November Bulletin Board Ideas

November Bulletin Board

Creating and designing a monthly bulletin board is not an easy task.  This year, I am determined to create a new bulletin board for the library each month, and then save everything so it can be reused next year.  Every year, I commit to changing my bulletin board monthly because displays are an important part of the library environment, but every year I fall short.  Every year, the bulletin board is what falls by the wayside.

This year, to keep myself accountable, I have been creating bulletin boards that only make sense for the month.  For September, I created a “Welcome Back” bulletin board, which clearly only makes sense at the beginning of the school year.  For October, my bulletin board was Halloween themed so it was absolutely necessary that I change it when November hit.

For November, I created a “Books We are Thankful For Bulletin Board,” which is what I am sharing with all of you in case you are struggling with creating bulletin boards like I am!  This one is super simple.  I chose two third grade classes to help me with the decorations, and from there, it was easy peasy!

Creating the Turkeys!

I chose two third grade classes to create the Turkeys so that I knew they would be neat and legible.

Materials

Turkey Template

Feather Template:  I cut the feathers out of yellow, red and orange construction paper.

Pencils: Each student wrote their 3 favorite books on the feathers in pencil first so that I could check spelling

Sharpies or Markers to trace over Book Titles

Scissors

Glue

Crayons

Books We are Thankful For Bulletin Board Letters You can use mine or create your own.  I just print them on colored paper, laminate and staple them to the board!

Directions:

Have each student color in the turkey template and cut out.

Tell students to write 3 book (one on each letter) that they are thankful for.

Check the students’ spelling, have students trace over their books in marker and glue to the back of the turkey.

Voila! Your November bulletin board is done!!
